Using curriculum developed by Project Archaeology for the exhibit, Leisure and Luxury in the Age of Nero: The Villas of Oplontis Near Pompeii, we’re going to take on the role of archaeologists studying Roman culture. We’ll investigate the geology that creates volcanoes, why people live next to them, frescos and mosaics, real Roman coinage and other artifacts, and make an archaeologist’s map of the Villa to gain a better understanding of the life of a wealthy Roman family.
